Multiply 2, 3, and 4 Digits by 1 Digit

Preview

This chapter is actually easier than anything that has to do with multiplication because in this chapter you will learn how to multiply 1 digit number by either a 2 digit, 3 digit, or 4 digit number. I am not going to be showing you how to multiply by each and every digits but only by 3 digits because once you know this you will automatically know how to do the others.
Lets take the example 542 x 2 and put this in multiplication form and multiply:

 542
x   2
------

Now the first thing you are going to do is multiply the two numbers 2 x 2 since we always start from the bottom right and go on left and so we now that the product is 4. So now our problem will look like this:
 542
x   2
------
     4
Next you have to multiply the next two numbers 2 x 40 and we know that the product is 80 and now our problem will look like this:
 542
x   2
------
   84
Last you have to multiply the two numbers 2 x 500 and we know that our product is 1000 and now we have our final problem which will look like this:

 542
x   2
------
1084

Now try some of these and make sure to watch the video on YouTube.
