Performing Multiplication and Division in Algebraic Expression

Introduction

In our previous post, we talked about performing addition and subtraction in algebraic expressions. Well, we'll pretty much just cover the same concept except this chapter covers multiplication and division. So remember that multiplication and division goes left to right. So whatever operation comes first from left to right, you will solve that operation first!
Overall, this should be a piece of cake!

Try It Out!

Let's say that we have a problem such as 72/(6x2)
First, we will multiply because there are parentheses: 6x2=12
So, now we have 72/12
We all know that 12x6=72 and so therefore our quotient will obviously equal 6!
That means that our final answer to 72/(6x2) equals 6.
