Comparing of Integers

Introduction

In this lesson we will learn how to compare integers. The main thing when comparing integers is that you have to order the integers according to negatives and positives. Then you have to determine which number is greater, less, or equal using the following signs: < , > , =

Comparing Integers

Let's say that we have the two integers 5 and -7

Remember that in negative numbers, the smaller the number the greater the value. The further the integers are to the left of the number line, the smaller the number.

Since we already know that positive numbers are greater than negatives, let's sort our integers:

Positive: 5
Negative: -7

So that means that 5>-7

Introduction to Integers

Preview

Integers are what determine the type of value the number holds. So what type of integers are there? Well there are positives and there are negatives and you should know that the number 0 is not an integer but any other number is. So if we say that a video on YouTube was liked 50 times and disliked 2 times what this actually means is that its +50 and -2.

So what if you see a number with no integer sign in front of it? Well that means that the number is a positive and if there is a subtraction sign in front of it then it is a negative. And any number that has a positive in front of it is a whole number but a number with a negative sign is a negative number.
Now try some of these and make sure to watch the video on YouTube.

What are Even and Odd Numbers

Introduction

Even and Odd Number-sounds like a bunch of kindergarten stuff right?!
Well, did you know that even and odd numbers are one of the most essential things in math because math is numbers!

In this topic, we will learn the logic behind even and odd numbers. So let's get going!

Even Numbers

Even numbers are just numbers that are divisible by 2. So if you can divide any number by 2 and it goes in whole, you have yourself an even number!

Even Numbers end in the following numbers:
0, 2, 4, 6, and 8.

Odd Numbers

If a number isn't even...then it's odd!

Odd Numbers end in the following:
1, 3, 5, 7, and 9
